Starting with the 2026–27 season, U.S. youth soccer is shifting how age groups are determined. Instead of using a calendar year system (Jan 1 – Dec 31), age groups will now be based on a school-year cycle (Aug 1 – Jul 31). This change is designed to align players more closely with their classmates and simplify team formation.
The current 2025–26 season will remain unchanged under the existing system, with the new age group structure taking effect for registrations and competitions beginning Fall 2026.
Please note that all placement decisions are made at the discretion of the club and coaching staff, with the goal of placing each player in the environment where they will best develop and thrive.
